We went to thassos recently (returning to Manchester 2 weeks ago)- and got inflight meals on both journeys.
I think the 5 hour homeward bound flight via Skiathos was more of an indicator the way things are going.
Still worth it though as Thassos is such a wonderful place.

hi
We don't rate excel/kosmar to highly, but we just had to get to Thassos this year after missing last. Any way will do!
Will have to look into independant travel if anymore companys drop Thassos.

Oggy :D ;-)

Thanks folks,

I've been looking at XL website and it looks as if the in-flight meal is going stop in November for short haul flights, the letter V after your flight number indicates this.

I don't really mind either way - I just want to be prepared beforehand.

Only 3 sleeps to go!! :)

;) Hello Ann

Why don't you take some sarnies anyway? If you don't eat them you can always feed the seagulls on the ferry.

Booked with Kosmar in January and I was certain meals were included then. However, when my tickets arrived yesterday ( :g: )
there was definitely a 'V' at the end of the flight number and the information pack gave prices for all the sample menus available!

Normally I would not mind, but what with the stop over on Skiathos it will be quite a long time on the plane and I need something to pass the time!

I felt sure that meals were not included on our flight with Kosmar from bristol but according to the xl website food is served unless there is a V in the flight number.

Hi All,

No flight meals on the Gatwick. Mind you you can buy a meal at £5, but who in their right mind would pay £5 for the rubbish they serve. It's cheaper and better to buy some sarnies from the airport and eat em as you fly over the alps! (you know your over the alps...it gets a bit bumpy!). Then, on return, if you are staying in Thassos Town, then go to Stellas, a little bakers shop opposite the Athrea on the road into town from Elia, Fontini Lina etc and buy a couple of her deliciouise rolls wrap em up well and you can enjoy them on the flight home.

Thanks David and Tracy - it sounds a good idea, especially for the return journey. It's just that the meals they serve on the planes do tend to waste a few of those long, boring minutes on the plane!

Hi,

Just got back yesterday and had a wonderful time, there wasn't an in flight meal on the Newcastle flight, (we had a V after the flight number).

Babs - we took some sandwiches with us and ate them so there was nothing left for the seagulls, they repaid us with a deposit on Ron's shirt!! :o

Sorry to say we've decided to buy the food on the flight :o

Decided that we couldn't resist the smell of hot food and would feel extremely hard done by if the people sitting next to us were having it and we weren't! :tha:

Just got back yesterday and thought I would update you on the XL food thing!

As we had a V after our flight number we didn't get a meal included. However, on the way out we bought the chicken wraps which were quite sufficient to keep us going until we reached Thassos. These actually looked better value than the hot meals which at £5 were not worth it.

On the way back, however, due to a hitch with the plane at Gatwick, XL had to draft in a plane from their German division and because there had been a delay and there was no duty free or in-flight entertainment available, we all were given a complimentary bagel! This was better than it sounded.....cheese or turkey bagel, fruit salad and Kitcat with free tea/coffee or soft drink! Bargain!!!
