Antigone Studios have gone up by £175 per person per week (£350 per fortnight) since we stayed there 2 years ago.

Kosmar have done the same in Stoupa where we stayed this year. Holiday for same hotel, same flights, same time - 2007 £431 per person for 14 days - 2008 £654 per person.

Talking about shooting yourself in the foot.

I DON'T BELIEVE IT

It would cost us three over £500 more for the same holiday as this year

Because of the "Via Skiathos" we have booked with Thomsons next year and we thought we were paying more.................................In fact our next year with Thomsons, direct flights is £140 cheaper for 17/8/08 2 weeks .

This saddens us as we love the Kosmar team over there and the Villa Elia is lovely. But we are certainly NOT lining XL's pockets. I bet Kostos who owns Villa Elia isn't getting any more!!

We've just received quotes for next year from Kosmar (admittedly not Thassos) and the average price for the holiday (for four) will increase by about £4-600. The Maria Hotel in Potos where we stayed this summer has went up by £100 per person.

I think it is no coincidence that the Kosmar prices have rocketed since the XL takeover. After going with them for 9 years we will no longer use them.

Kosmar used to be a Greece only specialist but now in addition to Turkey- we're getting offered the Balearics, Spanish Costas etc etc. Surely there are enough operators going to these places. Kosmar are also withdrawing quite a number of destinations too for next year. Paros one of our choices has now been withdrawn completely.

I'm with most of the posters on here and I'm looking seriously at independent travelling. Then we have the selection of where we want to go. Have been a bit cautious of doing it because we have two small kids, but what the hell how difficult can it be?

I think it's the cost of air travel that has gone up.

We have 2 independant holidays booked for next year and while the accommodation is still very reasonable, the flights have gone up greatly both with XL and My Travel - but, if you want to go you have to pay!

The more people booking flights and accommodation separately the less flights the holiday companies will put on .
I know its sometimes cheaper this way and often more convenient ,but if the package companies carnt fill its accommodation it will only put enough flights to fill the accommodation it has.
Thomas Cook dropped Thassos this year and others are pricing the UK customers out of the market.
