Myself & my partner are going to Thassos on our honeymoon in August, we have never been before but the island looks amazing & we are really looking forward to it. I just wondered if I could check please what the weather is normally like in August please? I've read a few things about it being cooler at night times & about the possibility of rain at times & just want to make sure we pack everything we need! We go 9th August for 2 weeks.

I'm sure you will love it here and have a wonderful honeymoon. As for the weather, prepare for hot! You may get the odd cooler evening so bring a shawl or something, but you are unlikely to need it. There could also be the odd shower, later in the month. Don't worry, we are talking short and sharp. It won't spoil anything. Just laugh and get wet. You'll soon be dry. Or it may not happen at all. Whereabouts are you staying? The other thing is to note you are coming at the busiest time. The island is not always so busy. By the way, Your visit is spanning a major religious holiday in Greece so there will be a couple of days of celebrating. (Think August bank holiday, but more sociable)
We have been going to thassos for the first 2 weeks in august for 8 years and it is HOT , very hot but that's how we like it.....nightime is very warm also with air con being a must , because of the heat there is normally 1 big downpour when we are there but as others have said this is short lived and is over as quick as it came , i normally take a couple of shoulder scarves to take out at nightime incase it gets a little coolerl but to be honest they're never needed . Thassos is a truly heavenly island and once visited leaves you with a huge pull to return , you will have a brilliant time that you will never forget , happy hols !

hi, skala rachoni is quiet but very nice,. some great tavernas and some great hotels. best of all your on the west coast so the sun sets are amazing. where are you staying ? regards vinnie
We are staying at the LouLoudis Hotel. Sounds great about the Sunsets! We have hired a car for most of our stay as want to find all the different beaches and coves for snorkeling. Thanks for the response
Hi Louise. Welcome to the forum. It will be our 7th visit to Skala Rachoni this year so needless to say we love it. We normally go your 2 weeks but we're a week later this year. We had rain for the 2nd time only last year but we just stayed by the pool anyway, although heavy it didn't last long. Evenings I've never needed a cardi but theres always one in my case just in case! You should take insect repellent for the evenings too. I hope you enjoy your holiday but if you do sshhhhh we don't want it spoilt!!!
Thanks very much for all the advice, I will pack plenty of insect repellent! I keep checking the forecast and Thassos looks to be having beautiful weather. Don't worry we won't spread the word about Thassos, don't want it getting spoiled! I am sure we will love it
