Not sure how you go about it but we have just returned from thassos and looked into buying property whilst we were there , a very good thassian friend who we have known for 8 yrs advised us not to purchase at the moment as it is not a good time also that when purchasing a property it can turn out that other people own the property along with yourself and that debts from any previous owners can land on your lap also that after purchasing the property for an agreed amount more money is asked from yourselves in the following months making the price a lot more than initially thought....unfortunately for you he advised that it can take up to 2 yrs to get the electric connected ....in our case he said that the best way forward would be to look into long term rental....would be interested in other views though on all the above

hi thanks for the reply. but we have our land and are in the process of placing a large trochoville on it hence the reason for the electric. but if you would like to buy i can give you information about a really great man named Gregory

hi, have to disagree, property seems to be moving again, sales are up.
i bought mine eight years ago, no problems at all, very straight forward. although it did give me peace of mind that the builder had one of the houses for himself.
the electric was connected within a couple of weeks, again no problems.
The majority of british people i know who are now living permanently in the skala rachoni area of Thassos do not seem to have encountered many problems.
my agent said to me, " theres a new way of thinking with the greek builders, why build it wrong and create problems when you can build it the right way "
Interesting debate, i am sure no doubt someone will have a horror story to tell. bit like trip advisor on hotels, you get lots of positive reviews on a specific hotel then out of the blue a terrible one.
