Can anyone recommend a cheap car rental place (ideally from Thesaloniki airport). ? Thank you !

Try POTOS cars, available from the airport. Usually you have to rent them from the duration of your stay. The alternatives are not always as cheap as they seem, insurance cover is poor and the extra premium for full cover can be huge !
Alternatively catch a bus from Thess. to Kavala and rent something on the island. Speedy hire are highly recommended but they only operate on the island.

My husband and I used arguscarhire and was very happy with their rates. Make sure you are insured! Also, as someone already mentioned, you might be better off taking public transportation and then renting a car from the island.

i normly use Auto Europe which offers a selection of car rentals. I tend to find National is the cheapest. Its just off site but the service is very good.

Currently charging about £95 for a week in May for a small 2 door car

Hi all, we always use Potos Car Rental & have done for the last 16 years when we visit! You can hire at Kavala & Thessaloniki airports, we've never had any problems.
We once had a car from Kavala airport & the car hire guy wanted a lift back to the ferry at Keramoti, he drove, rather fast, so we caught the ferry that was just leaving. Everyone else waited for the next ferry! wx

Don't forget to ask if it is allowed to take the car on the ferry!
With Potos Carrental that is no problem.

hi, have just booked using argus car hire. they have put me in to a company called surprice car rental. 850 meters from thesslonika airport. vw golf £ 130 for the week. do not, in my opinion use modial insurance, they are a third party insurance company which means the car rental compay still blocks 900 euros off your credit card in case of damage. i am insuring direct with surprice. 5 euros per day to reduce the excess to zero. this includes tax. hope this helps. regards vinnie. p.s if you have never driven down before its very easy, just do not come off the motorway at the sign marked kavala or you will end up in the centre. stay on the motorway until you see the signs for keramoti ferry port assuming your going over to thassos.

You can get car hire excess insurance separately, we do this, it's much better - more comprehensive and cheaper, plus any claims can be dealt with by a UK company.

Hi, and what would be the best option to get a car if I stay in Skala Kallirachis ? Take a bus to Prinos or is there a closer place perhaps ? Thanks
