First time in Thassos. Elia Studios. Booked with Thomson.

Beitrag von mikerouse »

Hello,

I've read the post about the location of Elia Studios and am looking forward to finding it. However, my questions are more basic and generic as a first-timer to Thassos.
  1. Which airport does the Thomson flights generally land at? I see there's Kavala Megas Alexandros, but I have an app on my phone which seems to suggest a smaller airfield north of Kavala.
  2. Is the ferry transfer usually from Kavala or Keramoti? If we land at Kavala Megas Alexandros I hope it'll be Keramoti as it looks like a shorter and more direct journey.
  3. Is the crossing usually smooth or is this part of the Aegean notoriously choppy?
  4. What normally happens when we disembark at Thassos? Do the Thomson reps meet us off the boat?
  5. Have any of you stayed at Elia Studios? Got any tips for us?
I'm travelling with my girlfriend on our first holiday together. I've previously been to Symi with a friend and an adult, but this is my first time going on holiday without a "grown up" even though I am 27 and really should be more confident about this!

Hi Mike,
The airport is just south of Kavala, and the ferry is from Keramoti, it is usually a smooth crossing, approx 35 minutes and Thomson reps will meet you off the ferry.

Carl from Cheers Bar, on the harbour.

We're in Kenilworth, but I'm originally from Coventry. Have you been in Thassos for long?

We'll definitely pop by and see how business is going. I'll even stick a review up on the web for you so others can know about you when they're Googling like I have been.

Hi Mikerouse,

You will land at Kavala and the reps will be there at the airport, and they will guide you outside where you leave you luggage at the sign of the hotel. We were a bit weary of this on our first visit but it runs like clockwork, the luggage will be loaded on trucks and delivered direct to your hotel/appts within an hour of your arrival, if not before. You will then be directed to coach A, B, C or D which will then transfer you to Keramoti, usually 15 mins transfer. You board the ferry, grab your first Mythos and enjoy the start of your holiday. The coaches do not travel on the ferry but you get on the same letter coach i.e A, B, C on the other side.
From then it will be a smooth transfer to your hotel.

I am sure you will fall in love with Thassos.

ps. Enjoy the seagulls on the ferry! :o)

Just returned from Elia yesterday (6th time to Thassos) , nice apartments, clean and tidy typical greek! Kettle, fridge and hotplate - safety deposit and air con at a cost. Good food and bar with reasonable measures and prices. Well maintained pool and gardens - run by lovely people. 15 mins walk to town centre would return. Bus stop very near, supermarket next door (turn right out of accomodation) bakery and shop sellin newspapers turn left. Lots of lovely Tavernas, walks etc, local buses cheap and very reliable. People very friendly, beautiful Island that will grab your heart!!!!

Thassos Elia studios

Hi,
People have answered what you do for the crossing etc. but it is really smooth ferry journey and like someone else said the start of your holiday - it is the bit we really look forward to as you get lovely views of Thassos as you approach the island.
Elia studios are really nice have stayed there before and am going back there this year in July, the gardens are great, yes it is near a main road but that isnt really noticeable. it is a nice walk into town. The beaches I would recommend you visit is Makyrammos and Skala Potomia. Do go up the mountain in Thassos there is an ampitheatre half way up and lovely views from the top and it is relatively easy to get up there. If you are like us you will fall in love with Thassos this is our 7th time there, the people are lovely, prices good and you have no choice but to relax. This was my daughters first 'adult' holiday with a friend and she loved it and we felt she was totally safe. Enjoy your holiday.
