Marble Beach
Back to Thassos in July, about 12 years running now, thought we knew most of the island and beaches. Trawling the internet I see that there is a beach called Marble Beach, also known as Saliara Beach, I think south of Makryamos and north of Golden Beach.
Does anybody have any simple directions, by car, of how to find this beach.

Marble Beach
Thanks Sepan, I have noticed that track before, but when going to Makryamos you do not tend to take off the beaten track tracks.
Marble Beach
We went to this spot 1997 on lazy island cruise. There was a building under construction over looking the beach. was it ever finished ?
Great beach . but remember at that time there were a lot of sea urchins.

We used to use this beach for our BBQ's back in 1984.
I notice that it has umbrellas erected during the summer nowadays is nothing sacred!!
Worth a visit as the beach is pure white from the marble that has been quarried behind it over the years, I think this is where the ferry ran aground a few years back in a storm it was smuggling tobacco and booze if I remember rightly, the ferry's been salvaged a few years back so no longer there.

The wreck from Scala Potamia.
This will be the vessel you are referring to.Ran aground in Scala Potamia. In 2006. was carrying cotton seeds. The beach was covered with them and stank to high heaven. The authorities eventually towed the vessel round the corner behind Golden Beach.
