Hi oggy

What a great find!

They are pictures taken of Limenaria, the first picture is of Limenaria harbour the 2nd one is the palataki (palace) it was taken over by the Germans when Greece was at war with Turkey (think I got that right) dont know where the 3rd is but the 4th is the opposite end of Limenaria if you know Limenaria at all you can still see some of the old houses which are still there!!!

Great find and will ask some of my Greek friends if they can recognise where the 3rd picture was taken

see ya

Hi Lynne
Nice to hear from you again.
I guess these postcards will be around the early 1900-1920 era??
Sure someone will know.

Hi Oggy,

the postcards must be older than October 18, 1912, because til this day Thassos was under Turkish occupation.

We have similar postcards from Kavala in the gallery: http://www.thassos-forum.de/viewtopic.php?p=34826#34826

Hi,
I would say, this is Limenaria with the Krupp-Villa on the top.
Really very interesting, these old postcards.

Here a picture from 2007!

Greetings,
Susi

Hi annaviktoria
Yes i guessed that one was Limenaria Krupp villa.

It's great to compare the two pictures.

I wonder if anyone can match up to any of the other ones?

Strangely, the same building is featured as the photograph for November 2008 on my Thassos calendar.

I think the 3rd one is Limenaria, too. In the right back, you see something like a bridge, and I think it's a construction to bring the ore to Metallia.
