A Complete Change (Or Two)

We were going to give Thassos a miss this year and have booked Lake Garda in June. (1st change). We always travelled to different locations until 2003 when we discovered Thassos and have been back 8 time in 10 years. We seem to be hooked on the place.

Having retired recently I couldn’t resist looking at prices and this forum. I finally gave in and booked 2 weeks in Limenas for mid September 2013. We have only ever visited in May before. (2nd change). I hope September will be as good as May usually is. I don’t handle too much heat but I don’t like rain either.

I’m looking forward to my first Mythos - probably at Karranti.

September should be nice OP, perhaps a little warmer than may but bearable. We are having a change also this year to skopelos, will be interesting to see if we come back fulfilled or will have a missed Thassos ....my dad went to lake garda last year and thoroughly enjoyed it ,said it was beautiful and with thassos to look forward what more could you ask for, hope you have a lovely time

Last year we decided to try somewhere else and while Lesvos was nice the first thing we did on returning home was to book a week in the September of that year back to Thassos. Only 11 weeks till we return again.

Thassos in September last year was fantastic, "unusually hot for the time of year" we were told although whenever we've been in September in the past we've always been fortunate.

We'll be there again this year in September.

We have often talked of going in September as a change. I would think the general atmosphere is likely to be different. We normally see everyone opening up and preparing for the new season whereas this year we will see them near the end of the season. That must give a different feeling.

The weather in May (2012) was not as good as we normally experience at that time of year in that it was colder and rained more. We still enjoyed it and will in September, I’m sure.

There is always May 2014 if we prefer May to September and I don’t need much encouragement to return again and again.

Sadly we missed going to Thassos last year due to redundancy and relocating to take up new work. However due to a change in our circumstances we are returning to Thassos this year and really looking forward to it. This will be our 4th visit in 5 years. Back to Skala Prinos.

Dear Advice Column

Bit of a dilema ..I dont know what to do? We didn't go to Thassos last year. Nothing booked this year and it's my big 6 0 in September.

Shall I get my drive retarmaced or just codge it up and get over to Thassos in September to see more fantastic sunrises. and feel more like 16.

I’m sure the drive can wait!

I intend to keep on returning to Thassos until money runs out or health deteriorates too much. Both of which I would hope will be OK for many more years.

I think both a drive and Thassos are a state of mind and I know which one I prefer.
