You should be ok going in May the wasps are usually an end of season problem. I went last year for last week september and 1st week October and the wasps were terrible. But have beeen twice in June and there were only a couple of wasps about.

I'm staying in golden beach, but might visit tripiti as I love snorkeling. Does the around the island bus stop near tripiti beach?
